Environmental Health Support Services are an independent training & consultancy service. EHSS specialise in food hygiene, health and safety and equality, providing support to both the public and private sector.
EHSS currently has three principle business strands.
- We support Local Authority Environmental Health teams.
- We specialise in supporting the small to medium sized enterprise and other organisations that traditionally found expertise inaccessible or simply too expensive.
- We offer subject specific training and resources to those that seek it.
Our Values:
Committed: Committed to meeting your service needs. Committed to maintaining quality- we do not sacrifice quality for quantity. Committed to following our ethical principles and Environmental Policy.
Consistent: Consistently maintaining performance standards to meet, and where ever possible, exceed your expectation.
Competitive: Providing an affordable equivalent to conventional inspection agencies used by Local Authority Environmental Health departments. Providing not just “competitively priced” but affordable support to small and medium sized businesses, providing more than the competition for the same money.
Environmental Policy
Simply, our policy is to make reasonable effort to ensure what we do does not detriment the environment. Materials for our products are carefully sourced to have minimal impact on the environment. We've moved away from published printed booklets and nearly all of our literature is available to download- so that they are only printed when needed, further reducing the impact of printing and distribution. The paper we do use comes from sustainable sources or is recycled.
As part of our consultancy service our Officers have to travel. Where practical and cost effective, this is done by public transport or environmentally neutral transport to reduce environmental impact. Because EHSS officers also use cars, EHSS support tree-planting programmes to reduce the carbon impact. Through Oxfam, tree planting preserves habitats and generates sustainable incomes for farmers in developing nations too. For more information on schemes like this and environmentally useful gifts visit Oxfam.
EHSS only provide FairTrade refreshments at training sessions.
Community Involvement Policy:
EHSS believes that a company should not simply exist or be percieved as taking from the community in which it operates, but that a company should have some connection or involvement with the communities that it serves.
For a number of years, the founders of EHSS have maintained branch level links with the Leukaemia Research Foundation. EHSS is proud to continue contributing to the important activity conducted at branch level.
